What it is
Automated receipt matching and expense categorization are what finance teams consistently praise about Ramp. This corporate finance tool combines expense management, bill payments, and accounting automation through AI agents that handle corporate cards, accounts payable, and banking workflows. Finance managers and CFOs at mid-market companies use it to replace manual expense reporting and payment processing. The tool processes receipts through SMS and email submission, then categorizes and matches them automatically.
At a glance
Ramp goes well beyond basic expense management by offering proprietary banking integrations, automated receipt matching through AI, and deep workflow connections with accounting systems like QuickBooks and Sage Intacct. The platform transforms expense reporting from a manual process into an automated workflow, with features like SMS receipt submission and real-time spend controls that most competitors don't match.

“We were early on Ramp and have not been disappointed. Ramp has revolutionized our Bill Pay and Credit Card processes. They are the leader in inovation and quickly add workflows and enhancements. The travel platform will be our next Ramp product.”
“Be careful using their investment account - Ramp employees don't 100% understand how it works and the third party that they use is not great. It took us months to get us answers to explain basics of how the account works. They still can't explain how their short term investment sleeve work, and the long term sleeve is a mess. In the long term sleeve, you can end up owning individual corporate bonds, you are not in bond funds. Clearly others must have been complaining because now there is check b”
“Everything is well thought out and the platform is very feature rich. I would absolutely recommend Ramp to anyone looking. We've spent over $50M on the platform so far and will continue to migrate our spend to the platform as opportunities arise.”
“We recently switched to Ramp, and it has been a lifesaver. It has increased our efficiency as an accounting team, and we've cut our month-end close time in half since implementing it. We love it and would recommend it to anyone considering Ramp.”
“Ramp is easy to setup and such a valuable product. It's amazing it's free when we use their corporate credit card. It's saved us money by controlling expenses in an automated way, and taken some work off my plate. I recommend it to all business owners that have multiple people spending. ”
“Terrible customer service. They hold your funds hostage and charge you 1% to get payments on the same day your vendor used to have the money inyour account with zero notice. They intentionally hold your fubds to the last possible second to try to encourage you to use their banking services and when you call them out they remove the ability to get funds early and hold them to the last possible second to try to punish you. ”
“Paid the unnecessary 1% fee to receive my money within 24h. It’s been 3 days and I haven’t received anything. 2 days since I sent an email to customer support and no response. They moved the estimated arrival date forward another day. Update: I got my money late despite paying the $20 to get it fast tracked, CS replied late saying they could explore the possibility of refunding me the $20 so I said sure go ahead and weeks later no reply despite follow up.”
“They named giving people $1000 simply for opening an account. Multiple emails later, they're clearly not going to give it to me. If they lie about that, what else are they lying about?”
“I find Ramp so easy to use, and I appreciate its intuitive AI and training capabilities. It's a reliable platform with strong admin tools, and they keep rolling out new features that I didn't even think about, which greatly benefit our organization and relieve pain points. I especially like how it manages travel policies, tracks them for us, and the amortization feature saves time during the month-end close. It syncs well with Sage Intacct, and I appreciate the 2-way writing between the platform”
“Our customer uses Ramp to pay for our services. We have to submit an invoice through the Ramp Portal. It is a chaotic system. Our experience with Ramp is that they do not pay on our invoices in a timely manner. Multiple emails and conversations to them are required to get them to pay. We are a cash and carry business, payment due when we submit an invoice. Ramp says they initiate payments within 10 days. Our actual experience is close to 30 days before our invoices are paid. Ramp tells you the ”
“This company is awful. From virtual reality to AI to outsourcing in the Philippines, they're impossible to reach during regular working hours. 30-plus emails fighting a fraudulent claim, with documentation, and them paying it and I still haven't got anything. Run from RAMP. RUN HARD.”
“They just don’t pay in a timely fashion and their system for tracking payments leads you to a site for signing up as a vendor. Completely useless”
“We had been with Ramp for over two years, and were recently assigned a new account manager. I went into our first meeting with low expectations but was blown away! Our new AM was prepared with reporting, answered all my questions, and had fantastic suggestions on how to better utilize the system. Furthermore, just minutes after the call, she sent a summary email of our meeting and included links/info on all of the topics we asked about during the call. This is the type of account management ”
“Shouldn’t have to jump through seemingly endless hoops just to receive a single payment. Worst part was it just decided the worst possible option for me and I couldn’t change the results. My only option? Call tech support and probably spend over an hour on the phone. No way. If I could give less than one star I absolutely would. ”

“We looked at working with this company before going with Bill.com. We are constantly harassed by their salespeople "checking back in". We have told multiple staff there to cease all contact with us and yet they just switch sales people and continue their push. We will be looking at legal action if it continues.”
“The onboarding was very thorough. The system itself is incredibly intuitive. It is saving our entire organization, not just the accounting folks, a huge amount of hours each month. We have used if for just over a year and everyone absolutely loves it!”

“Ramp is not friendly to users. Many times the user has to guess account codes and sometimes the merchant especially when traveling and the name is not clear on the receipt. Cannot input expenses for travel outside of the U.S. Exchange rates and transaction fees are not accurate. Does not read credit card bills correctly. Too much lag between the expense and input to ramp which is often manual. Process is very frustrating. Ramp takes 3x longer to generate an expense report compared to a ”

So said with draw my application till I can get business bank statements and the wanted me to link personal funds to an LLC business. Not happening. Would post responses back and forth if I could.
