What it is
A technical interview service that connects software engineers with companies through AI-conducted screening calls. Not an AI tool itself, but a hiring service that uses conversational AI to run initial technical interviews. The typical user is a developer applying for remote positions or a company outsourcing their first-round technical screens. 7 million monthly visits suggest significant adoption in the remote hiring space.
At a glance
Micro1 offers specialized AI interview technology with their conversational interviewer 'Zara' that adapts questions based on candidate responses and provides real-time feedback. This represents meaningful innovation beyond simple chatbot interfaces, with domain-specific fine-tuning for technical assessments and automated workflow chains that eliminate manual interview scheduling.

“The technical interview experience with micro1 was seamless and highly engaging. The conversational AI format felt natural and adapted perfectly to complex engineering topics. It asked insightful, context-aware questions covering React state architecture, Node.js event loop mechanics, and scalable AWS Lambda deployments with PostgreSQL connection pooling. It is a refreshing, modern approach to technical assessments that truly allows developers to demonstrate their practical problem-solving skill”
“Coding experience was broken, terminal was not working I have submitted the code without testing it, because i had no option to do so”
“Fue completamente buena, es la primera vez que tengo una entrevista con una IA al 100%, quede muy sorprendido de la capacidad de entendimiento y análisis de contexto en vivo que tiene y creo que esto es la tecnología que todo mundo espera.”
“Interviews are with an AI chatbot and funny enough I actually prefer it! No small talk just straight questions about my expertise. Overall i'm very happy with the hiring process so far.”
“I’ve been on the same project for months and made quite a bit of $. It’s real if you can get hired.”
“SCAM ALERT - their training their AI model for free by pretending there is a job.”
“I got invited to do an interview via LinkedIn. It was with their AI interviewer Zara. It was a 20 min recorded interview asking questions related to the job / my background. I was asked to take a photo of the front and back of my driver’s license + scan the barcode on the back. I just went with it Two days later I got emailed about them trying to on board quickly for a project. It felt like a huge scam. They offered me $1/hr more than I had put on my profile I didn’t speak to any actual people. ”
“There are enough people online saying it's a scam to make me think it's probably a scam. I haven't seen one person say it's legitimate or that they got hired there.”
“There is a human element to the experience of interviewing with an AI model. The response time was prompt, the audio and questions were clear and concise, and I experienced instant constructive feedback.”
“I tried to complete the interview no less than 10 times. I used multiple locations, multiple computers, convinced it was my fault that Zara buffered, froze, or stopped texting. My experience was perfect for the role so I was very eager to complete an interview, but Zara had different plans. Total waste of my time.”
“Coding experience was broken, terminal was not working I have submitted the code without testing it, because i had no option to do so”
“idk about this tbh, i did their interview because i couldnt access their dashboard after logging in and i didnt pass that interview so i dont have access to the dashboard now unless i pass it….”
“I liked how the AI interview kept questions relevant to my work experience and the immediate feedback on my responses were encouraging.”
“Spammers. Just that's enough not to try any contact with them. Ever.”

“So I applied to these guys and what a mess. Their platform was lagging like crazy from the start. The AI thing they kept bragging about? Did absolutely nothing. Then I somehow got "approved" and the interview questions worked a bit better. But here's where it gets weird - they wanted me to upload my ID and take a picture of myself for "verification." Fine, whatever. I do it. Then I get on their platform and guess what? No jobs. Nothing. Zero opportunities to actually apply for. What's the point ”
“I had a very positive experience with micro1. The assessment process was clear, well-structured, and easy to follow. The instructions were detailed, and the tasks were relevant and engaging. The platform worked smoothly, and the overall experience was professional. I appreciate the opportunity and would recommend micro1 to others looking for a fair and organized evaluation process.”
“I hate their questions. Way too technical especially for positions that really aren’t rocket science to know and train in. I’m so sick of the AI interviewing. I took their crap interview and ended up giving the AI a middle finger at the camera. I made sure they know I’m not in support of this crap. And I’m sorry to say this, it’s absolutely unacceptable to be interviewing with an AI system.”
