“The best freelancing experience I've had. Mercor is incredible because it does away with the traditional bidding wars you see on other platforms. The automated matching system is insanely accurate, you take one assessment, and they match your actual skills directly to high-paying AI training and tech contracts. Payments are seamless through Stripe, and the flexible remote setup lets you work on your own terms.”
“how funny these guys are, i applied and answered all correctly on their football expert job but they still reject me,”
“Mercor consistently followed up with our team to make sure we were having a good experience. Their site is easy to use, engineeers responsive, and their vetting, extensive. A must have for anyone building a business with engineering load.”
“Screenshot attached. I earned almost all of this in just over a month from two projects. My background is institutional finance and investment banking - not AI or software engineering. The biggest thing I’ve learned is that Mercor rewards reliability and quality output far more than most people realize. Most applicants focus on getting accepted to their first project. In my experience, that’s often just a function of patience. I signed up in December and didn’t receive my first trial work task u”

“My experience working on a project through Mercor was extremely disappointing. There was no live communication, proper training, or clear explanation of how the tasks were supposed to be completed. I spent hours trying my best to understand the work and meet the expectations without meaningful guidance or support. The project advertised good pay, but when payment time approached, I was suddenly removed without a clear explanation. No one told me specifically what was wrong with my performance, ”
“This is a scam. They expect you to train unpaid with little or no material or guidance. I put in 32h on my assigned task and was canceled and ejected before I could submit. Pay is effectively awful. You are expected to do a complex engineering research task in 15h and then you MAY get paid. This is a trash organization. ”
“Same. I just hit my first 20k this week doing only 20-25 hours of my 40 hours. I’m trying my best to slowly increase my hours, since this side gig pays a whole lot more than my fulltime. This is my first project. Goal is to earn enough to pay for this year’s rent, which I need about 4 months worth of mercor 😌”
“Mercor - honestly the best one I’ve used so far. Super smooth interface, legit projects, and you get matched based on your profile and skills. Highly recommend starting here. Been working there for a month and I really enjoy it. Micro1– Very recent platform, tons of tasks available. Uses the same interview system as Mercor. I recommend it. DataAnnotation.tech- solid if you get in, but the waitlist can be long and inconsistent. UserTesting– more focused on UX testing than annotation, but still a ”

“I can’t even get a job on mercor all I get is unfortunately so depressing I am tired already”
“I joined Mercor in June 2026 and worked on an AI evaluation project for over four months before being offboarded in September. Here's my honest experience for anyone considering joining. What I worked on: Evaluating AI-generated content, assessing accuracy and reasoning, applying detailed rubrics, and providing feedback. I was also promoted to Reviewer for a period, which involved reviewing other evaluators' work. ✅ Pros - Excellent earning potential: My project displayed a rate of $XX/hour, whi”

“If I could give this company minus 10 stars out of 5 then I would but I can't unfortunately I have to give the default one star they don't deserve one star they don't deserve any stars! Dear Mercor, It appears from a recent bad Google review, and my bad experience and first impression of the company, your reputation surpasses you! Your treatment of me, and my candidacy, was unacceptable! I'll be leaving bad reviews, of your company, here on TripAdvisor, Google Reviews and Glassdoor to warn”

“I just did my first task ever and feel like I bombed it and will get off boarded lol This is such a great platform tho, I’m literally laying in bed and can get up in a second and make 100 bucks whenever I want The only thing tho is it kinda makes you crazy, I remember doing similar work on outlier and every waking moment I wasn’t tasking I would feel guilty”

Questions
Mercor is a platform that connects AI companies with over 30,000 verified professional experts across medicine, law, engineering, and consulting for AI model evaluation and training. It addresses the challenge of evaluating AI models on real-world professional tasks by creating expert-driven benchmarks and assessments that go beyond traditional AI testing methods.
Mercor focuses exclusively on professional-grade expertise rather than general crowdsourced labor. Their network consists of verified experts in specialized fields like medicine, law, engineering, and consulting who can evaluate AI performance on economically valuable professional tasks that require domain expertise.
APEX benchmarks are Mercor's family of evaluation standards that assess AI model performance on real-world professional tasks. Examples include APEX-Agents for professional services, APEX-Accounting for financial tasks, and APEX-SWE for software engineering. These benchmarks have become industry standards and reveal significant performance gaps between current AI models and human expert capabilities.
Mercor provides three main enterprise services: human data and evaluation with automated anonymization, data monetization that helps organizations create revenue streams from existing workflow data, and enterprise AI deployment with embedded Forward Deployed Engineers and enterprise-grade integrations. They also help companies identify high-value AI opportunities by mapping workflows and institutional knowledge.
Mercor provides automated anonymization that masks over 60 categories of sensitive identifiers when processing professional data for evaluations. For their data monetization service, organizations maintain full control over what information is shared, ensuring sensitive business data remains protected.
Mercor facilitates red-teaming exercises and safety evaluations using their network of professional domain experts. They also support model improvement through reinforcement learning from human feedback, where experts provide guidance to enhance AI performance on complex professional tasks.
Mercor works with leading AI labs that need to evaluate their models on real-world professional tasks, and enterprises looking to deploy AI systems in professional contexts. The platform serves companies that require rigorous assessment of AI capabilities beyond traditional benchmarks, particularly for economically valuable professional work.
