“This was 30+ hours in the making, and my Resolve crashed so so many times. Everything is native inside resolve, most of the graphs were done by scripting and particles. also yeah the title is a lie I’m definitely gonna make a better mograph soon :)”
“Never Again. Intolerable mess just trying to output | There is a reason why edits are done in AVID and color corrected perhaps with the color correction on resolve these days. Other than that edit, fusion, Fairlight and deliver are worthless in our 25-year experience. We have cut in film, tape and seen the technology change. We are sticking to what works and won’t kill our business when we attempt to deliver projects using anything Balckmagic except for Color. | Pros: Output | Pros: Media offlin”
“The auto transcription + cutting feature in the paid version runs on a local neural network (so not an LLM but definitely AI) and it's an AMAZING time saver. There are so many things that "say" they are AI right now, and many of them are useless slop and worse. But some are really good, and that's one of them.”
“Aside from presets and plugins, DR does everything better than PP, even in the free version. Black magic has put forth real effort to make DR a very competitive all in one tool for videos.”
“DaVinci Resolve is a great, free and safe editor. If you are on a Mac, you can get it from the App Store. If you are on Windows and Linux (I believe), you can get it from here: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve”
“I know DaVinci Resolve Studio is a one-time payment and that’s one of the main reasons I really want to buy it instead of subscription software. But the $325 price is a huge amount for me right now. I really want to get the Studio version, especially for the extra features like noise reduction, but I’m hoping to buy it at a discount. Does it usually go on sale? If yes, when is the best time to watch for discounts? Any history of sales or bundle deals would really help.”
“Big big big pro: you don't have to fork over an internal organ every month to use it. Cons: if you're used to Premiere, you'll need to relearn a few things. Nothing drastic. You know how when you jump in your mate's car and the wipers are on the other side so every time you come up to a junction you wash the windscreen? That.”
“If you are just starting to try out video editing, try free davinci resolve. It will probably do 100% of what you need and 95% of what you want. If you hit the paywall, it's like $300 for life, for all current and future versions, and you can usually find a deal to get a license and a quick edit keyboard for $300.”
“GPU acceleration for FX, exports. Made a HUGE difference in my workflow. AI voice isolation (not sure if that's studio only) - pulled an announcer out of a football game and made it very clear. Transcription - mostly works. Now that I'm done with the current project, I'll upgrade to 20 and see how the auto captions work for shorts.”

“I’ll try to share the nodes for whatever y’all wanna see, if my resolve doesnt keep crashing some (probably) common questions, i’ll add screenshots later - Glass effect? I used two of sapphires nodes , rgb distort with a shiny emboss on the border - 3d graph ? I made a script that uses pCustomForce and maps a parametric x,y,z function on each particle based on its id, and it lets me graph whatever function i want - Desmos ? thought it would be funny lol, wanted to make something ”
“As someone who was heavily into Adobe especially premier, I am so glad I moved away from it. Davinci Studio is amazing, my video quality is better, editing is smoother and overall output is just amazing. I use 10bit footage so studio was the only option. I am never going back to Premier again. Night and day difference, seriously I had to use proxies to work with my footage in premier, I don't use proxies at all, editing Canon clog3 without any lag or issues and it's on a laptop.”
“Thank you very much, Sir, for such a fantastic explanation! I recently purchased the DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard, and your video has really helped me understand its basics. Your presentation style is clear, engaging, and very easy to follow. Although the video covers mainly the left panel and the jog wheel section, I found it extremely useful. If you ever plan to create a follow-up video covering the center section, the timecode area, and the remaining functions, I would be thrilled to wat”
“I made the purchase, it said thank and all, money are taken from my card but I got no confirmation email with an activation key or something. Where do I find the key?”
“I did the same thing it's best to purchase from one of their vendors i used Sweetwater.com. Davinci has an issue with direct purchases. Once I purchased from Sweetwater they provide a Serial Number and Activation Code and even called to reach out to make sure everything was okay. You then have to download the studio version, create a DaVinci resolve account and also enter the activation key into the studio version. They will provide instructions on how to exactly do it.”
“It really is an incredible piece of software you can get for free. If you end up using it, Blackmagic design has a free course on their website and also YouTube that'll teach you how to use it. IIRC they even go in-depth with color correction and all that fun stuff.”

“Not worth the trouble of downloading | DaVinci Resolve would be great for someone with a lot of patience, or someone needing to benchmark their SLI 2080Ti setup. | Pros: The user interface is modern & sleek. | Pros: There are a lot of features to make use of. | Pros: The product is free. | Cons: Continually crashes to desktop. | Cons: Extremely resource intensive. | Cons: Inconsistent functionality that isn't clearly explained. | Cons: Not at all smooth to use. | Cons: Simple features are hidden”
“Resolve has so many beginner friendly feature that you can only truly admire once you try other pro softwares (cough premiere). The auto sync media files, all the transitions have built in motion blur with a single tap and you don’t have to download separate apps for audio and vfx. At first I used premiere for a whole year and everything requires so many manual steps just so you can crop a video. DaVinci Resolve is better at basically everything. Not perfect but very close.”
“I honestly used to love editing in Premiere. Back in version 14-18 it was pretty solid. After that they introduced instability as a feature and I was constantly downgrading just to get through a basic edit. After editing in Resolve for 6+ years I had to go back to Premiere to make a simple change in a project for an old client and I nearly threw my computer against a wall. Never again.”
