What it is
Microsoft's AI assistant built directly into the Edge browser, with the ability to read and analyze content across multiple open tabs simultaneously. Copilot in Edge is a wrapper on GPT-4 that adds tab-context awareness and browser integration. Early reviewers praise the multi-tab analysis capability β asking questions that pull from several research pages at once without copying and pasting between windows. The audience spans business users, students, and researchers who spend significant time in browser-based workflows.
At a glance
Copilot in Edge offers genuine value beyond basic AI chat by integrating directly with Microsoft's ecosystem and providing context-aware assistance across multiple browser tabs. This creates workflow automation for research and comparison tasks that would require manual coordination in standalone AI tools.

βPutting aside the agentic part, I've been using Edge for the past few months and it seems like the best browser now. More lightweight and more features than chrome, and you can still have all the extensions. You have copilot on the side always and it had context of your tabs. It's easier than going to an llm and explaining what you're doing or taking a screenshot. Also it has gpt 5 for free with no limit Other handy features: side by side dual tabs right click mouse gestures (eg. Swipe dβ
βMS always had the talent, capacity and potential to become a giant competitor of Deepmind and OpenAI. Yet here they are, wasting all that on a frivolous and underperforming plugin called Copilot.β
βI mean, one useless product release (vibe coding in AI studio) is chasing another useless product release (coopilot in browser). While extremely simple tasks are still failing. Example: Twice a week I need to check and gather information from 3-4 twitter accounts, 2 sub reddits, 2 blogs and 3 linkedin profiles. This is extremely simple real life task. Yet, without specialistic knowledge, connecting web scrapers, creating dedicated developer accounts to access APIs, SWE knowledge, their (MS, Opβ
βOptimistic about Edge so far β Microsoft Edge is my browser of choice at work. Itβs fast, secure, and performs great no matter how many tabs I have open. When I first started using it I found the interface to be a bit overwhelming, but that was quickly resolved. I would definitely recommend Microsoft Edge. β Microsoft Edge is fast and secure, but its best feature is its low memory use. At work I have anywhere between 3-15 tabs open at any given time. On other browsers, this might slow my whole cβ

βNot really a fan. Not my cup of tea. β Meh...I really do not like this piece of software. I didn't like Internet Explorer either. I just have never preferred nor liked Microsoft browser products. β I love how when you use it in your organization , it automatically signs you into your email and work apps β Whenever I use copilot and ask it to make a downloadable file such as a word file or excel, the download link never works and when I ask it to try again, it says working on it for hours and nevβ

βDowngrading my review to 1 star. When I type some and hit return in my browser 99% of the time I want to SEARCH the internet or go to a web page NOT use your AI. I was actually enjoying Microsoft Edge until they force AI to be the default. I have tried to reset things to make search by the default, but the AI tells me to type in the search / URL box and not the CoPilot box. They are the same box on the home screen. Just too frustrating, switched to another browser.β

βNice browser but distracting home page. β I like the News section when opening Edge but they usually distracted me from doing my work. β Microsoft Edge is a very effective internet extension and it is expeditious, one can easily get their daily tasks done in a blink of an eye, and I love it so much. β Nothing at the moment, everything about it is profoundly amazing.β
