What it is

Overview

Visual professionals working with AI often face a critical limitation: most AI tools operate as black boxes, offering limited control over the underlying models and processing steps. Users input prompts and hope for acceptable results, with minimal ability to fine-tune specific aspects of the generation process. ComfyUI addresses this problem by providing a node-based visual interface that exposes every component of AI workflows, giving creative professionals the precision control they require.

Best for

  • Professional AI image artists
  • Stable Diffusion researchers
  • Users needing granular parameter control

Watch out for

  • Initial complexity requiring technical aptitude
  • Need for manual node connection instead of prompt-only simplicity
  • Limited finding of long-term bug reports in available public threads

Well firstly its absolutely god tier and im in love with it, and secondly, how much will it cost out of beta?

It’s impossible to build an architectural workflow: most compatible ControlNet models are missing — Flux depth, canny, etc. Money wasted.

9/10 overall if I'm not analysing it / 7-8/10 if i am. It's pretty good, just needs more soul. She looks only slightly kinda dead...but maybe that's just her character. Looks real. Deffo improve her facial expression

I just made up this quick workflow and it's working: Prompt: "Change this to a photo". Seems to blow Kontext out of the water after a small number of tests, need many more to be sure though. Embedded workflow here: https://files.catbox.moe/05a4gc.png This is quick and dirty using Euler Simple at 20 steps, so skin will be plastic/not detailed. I will experiment with more detailed samplers or schedulers for better skin, and you should too. Do not assume the model can't be more realistic than this,

I paid $25 less than a week before this site announced it was being sunset. Never could get custom node functionality to work. I need a refund.

Rearranging subgraph widgets don't work and now they removed Flux 2 Conditoning node and replaced with Reference Conditioning mode without backward compatiblity which means any old workflow is fucking broken. Two days ago copying didn't work (this one they already fixed). The best part is that now they're making everything subgraphs, any api-based worflow is now fucked. And you have to specifically convert every subgraph back to regular nodes before you export... and it's still broken.

NEGATIVE reddit

Honestly, the entire series of updates since December last year have been absolutely fucked.

Even though not too long ago, Comfy posted about how much they love us, they just keep pushing out arrogant, irresponsible, user-hostile updates. It's almost as if all the recent "community outreach" is just bullshit. Weird.

My goodness, I’ve watched hundreds of hours of videos that never fully explained how this shit works. FINALLY someone lays it all out in a way “normal” people can understand. Seriously, it’s like all the other videos just expect us to already know all the other little details. It’s like, if you’ve never sat in the driver’s seat, how the fuck are we supposed to know how to turn the car on and drive?! Thank you so much brother 🙏. Your video is literally the best one out there. 👊😎🤘

simple. unless you are well versed in comfyui local or are willing to piece workflows together reverse engineering and copy/pasting from the included templates, building out a workflow manually to do exactly what you want it to do, is next to impossible. There is not even an easy node for simple "text prompt" input to feed an LLM or image generator if you don't want to fill in their prompt fields directly (this text can be lost). I had to spend 2 hours chatting with A.I. to figure out how to get

Questions

Frequently asked

What is Comfy?

Comfy is a visual AI workflow builder that lets you create complex AI pipelines by connecting models and processing steps on a node-based canvas. Unlike typical AI tools that work as black boxes, Comfy gives you complete control over every parameter and component in your AI generation process, making it ideal for professional visual content creation.

Is Comfy free to use?

Comfy offers both free and paid options. Comfy Desktop is available as a free download that runs locally on your hardware. Cloud-based access starts at $20/month for the Standard plan with 4,200 monthly credits, with higher tiers at $35/month (Creator) and $100/month (Pro) offering more credits and features.

What's the difference between the node-based approach and regular AI tools?

Most AI tools operate as black boxes where you input prompts and hope for good results with minimal control. Comfy's node-based system exposes every component of the AI workflow as individual nodes that you can connect, modify, and fine-tune in real-time. This gives you precise control over models, parameters, and processing steps for consistent, reproducible results.

How many AI models does Comfy provide access to?

Comfy Cloud includes access to 900+ pre-installed AI models and supports over 60,000 different nodes. You can also import custom LoRAs and models from popular repositories like CivitAI and Huggingface, giving you extensive flexibility in your AI workflows.

What platforms is Comfy available on?

Comfy is available as a web tool and on iOS. You can also download Comfy Desktop to run workflows locally on your own hardware, or use Comfy Cloud for cloud-based access with powerful GPUs.

Can I use workflows created by other users?

Yes, Comfy has an active community that shares thousands of workflow templates through Comfy Hub. You can browse, remix, and build upon existing solutions created by other users, making it easy to get started or find inspiration for your projects.

What types of content can I create with Comfy?

Comfy supports text-to-image generation, image-to-image generation, text-to-video generation, image-to-video generation, video editing, and image editing. It also includes AI agents for autonomous task execution and comprehensive workflow automation capabilities.

What's included in the different cloud pricing tiers?

The Standard plan ($20/month) includes 4,200 credits and 30-minute max runtime. Creator ($35/month) adds custom LoRA imports and up to 3 concurrent workflows via API. Pro ($100/month) provides 21,100 credits, up to 1-hour runtime, and up to 5 concurrent workflows via API.
