What it is

Overview

Cohere addresses the challenge enterprises face when implementing AI solutions while maintaining strict security, privacy, and compliance requirements. Traditional AI platforms often require sharing sensitive data with third-party providers, creating risks for regulated industries like financial services, healthcare, and government sectors. The company targets enterprise customers who need AI capabilities but cannot compromise on data sovereignty or security controls.

“What I like best is Cohere's intelligent tolerance for human imperfection. I often input rough, 'lazy' drafts full of typos or grammatical errors, but Cohere's advanced AI understands my intent, seamlessly corrects the mistakes, and turns my messy thoughts into polished, professional text. It completely eliminates the cognitive load of proofreading and is a massive time-saver. The value absolutely justifies the cost. The hours I save every week by not having to manually correct my typos and mess”

“For those who can't get past the paywall, this article is about North 2 , an enhanced agentic harness, basically the same idea as North. They also announced a partnership with PWC today (not in the article). What they haven't announced is a Cohere LLM that outperforms Deepseek 3 , which came out two years ago. Maybe they're not even focusing on producing a competitive LLM any more.”

NEGATIVE reddit

“Canada needs its own LLM. Right now the US can just turn off Claude or ChatGPT for Canadians and Canadian businesses. Like they did for the International Criminal Court . If Cohere is laughably behind, they should just use the more up to date open weights (Chinese but open source) and develop off of those.”

POSITIVE reddit

“Cohere has launched North 2, the latest version of its enterprise AI platform. The interesting part isn't simply that it can create AI agents. It's that Cohere is building the management layer companies need once they start deploying lots of them. North 2 gives organizations: • Persistent agent memory• Reusable agents, skills and shared knowledge libraries• Spending limits and token quotas by user, team or agent• Human approval for sensitive actions• Granular permissions controlling which data, ”

“It's a solid model, and it's innate intelligence is roughly as good as Deepseek v3. It's programming capability is somewhere between Deepseek v3 and Mistral Large V2. Which is good because this model is smaller than both. The problem is, the API is absurdly priced. They're price gouging their clients. It should cost them no more than 2 dollars per million output tokens to run this model, yet they're charging their clients 10 dollars per million tokens.”

NEGATIVE reddit

“I personally think Cohere's Reranker API is unmatched, but a major con is that my org's legal team looked into it and ended up blocking us from using it for our external-facing RAG app due to concerns around their data privacy rules . If anyone has any advice on how we might be able to still use Cohere while protecting our data, please let me know (and I'll let our legal team know). Here's the link to their TOS: https://cohere.com/terms-of-use And here is the excerpt that they took issue”

“Cohere provides free APIs for Python-related projects, especially in AI/ML. During my internship, my mentor suggested using the Cohere API (free tier) in my event management system to add an AI chatbot. It has given very good performance even within the free quota. As a beginner in AI/ML projects, I would recommend it to others who want to get started. As a free-quota user, I don’t really have any dislikes about Cohere overall. That said, free plans always come with some limitations, and I’ve no”

“What I like most about Cohere is how easy it is to work with, and how straightforward the API feels. I’ve found it especially useful for text-related tasks, like generating responses and trying out different AI use cases. Overall, the setup is simple, and it doesn’t take long to get familiar with. What I dislike about Cohere is that some of the model options can feel a bit confusing at first. It took me some time to figure out which model is best for a particular use case, and I think the onboar”

“Two main features I like most about Cohere one is Command and the second is Rerank. Commands helps with my daily sales tasks such as creating customer emails and summarizing meeting notes for generating content about sales. Rerank helps with the most relevant information from large documents collection, this saves time of searching product details and customer information manually. Embed feature is good for searching large amounts of data but it required more technical setup than expected especi”

“What I like most about Cohere is how easy it is to get started. The Playground is straightforward, the documentation is clear, and testing prompts or trying out different models doesn’t require much setup. I also appreciate that responses are generally fast, and the platform feels well organized and easy to navigate when I’m experimenting with AI applications. What I dislike most is that it can take some time to get comfortable with all the available options. The platform is capable, but I somet”

POSITIVE g2

“I like that Cohere is straightforward and easy to use, especially for AI and other language-based tasks. It also feels like a solid option for businesses, since it focuses more on practical AI tools and real use cases rather than being just a chatbot. One common downside is that Cohere can feel more developer-focused, so it isn’t as beginner-friendly if you’re not very technical. Some people also feel it doesn’t offer as many widely known features or integrations as larger platforms like OpenAI ”
